Book Suggestions/Reading Recommendations

Hi Everyone,

I thought it would be fun to share what we're reading with each other (inspired by the Mary Ruefle conversations!). I just read Kaveh Akbar's Calling A Wolf A Wolf and loved it if you're looking for something.

  1. Cool idea, Shannon! I just picked up the just-released Feminists Are Passing from Our Lives, by fellow Connecticut poet and once a month dinnermate Leslie McGrath. She is brilliant!

  2. I am also in the midst of Patricia Smith’s Incendiary Art — she never fails to blow my mind. Blood Dazzler is my favorite of hers, but this new one is coming very close...

  3. Hi Shannon and Claire. I'm currently reading Fady Joudah (his older book Alight) and looking forward to reading his new one, published by Milkweed Press. I've been struck by all the new poems of his I've read online. I've been rereading Linda Gregg, off and on. I have her New and Selected Poems: All of it Singing. On the prose side, I am in great anticipation of Rachel Cusk's latest: called Kudos. I am a big fan, and highly recommend the 2 previous in this trilogy-- Outline, and Transit.
